I know you're excited to light up your candle! But there are some tips to ensure that your candle has a long life and burns correctly. Below I have provided key details to remember:
1. Before lighting your candle, make sure to trim the wick to 1/4" each time before burn.
2. I use 100% soy wax to produce the candle, and soy wax has a memory. To ensure the candles don't tunnel, be sure to burn the candle until the wax pool reaches the edge of the jar. (Typically takes about an hour to create a full melt pool).
3. Allow sufficient time for the jar to cool down after diffusing the flame. As we all know, lit candles are HOT!
4. Keep lit candles in sight while burning and keep them away from anything flammable. Never leave children unattended near an open flame.
5. Keeping the lid on the candle while it's unlit keeps the scent from evaporating and will help it last longer.
6. Do NOT burn a candle all the way down until you can't anymore! Discontinue use once there's 1/2" of wax left in the candle. (Reasons for this, your jar will get extremely HOT & possibly break.)
Important Note: Sometimes the candle will appear "frosted" after the wax cools down. While frosting isn’t harmful, it may impact the appearance of your candle. No need to panic though, this is a common characteristic due to it being a natural product. Also, if you see what appears to look like "wet spots" around the jar, this is completely natural and will not inhibit the functionality of your candle. :-)
There’s more to it than just lighting a wick! It’s very important to trim your wick 1/4” from the wax for a cleaner burn & longer lasting candle. The benefits of trimming your wick accurately:
• Clean Jar; You’ll avoid that smoky appearance on the jars
• Clean Burn; Allows the flame to have a clearer, brighter burn...no dark smoke
• Burns Safely; Stops the flame from being too high
• Prevent Mushrooming; No more built up carbon that sits on top of the wick
(Candle on the left is the correct way)
